The municipality of Port Hope is paying tribute to transit coordinator Jerry Siebarth, who has passed away.
Siebarth joined the municipality in 2018 during the transition from a contracted transit model to a municipal service. In his role, he provided leadership and support to transit staff, operations, and municipal crossing guards. From 2024 to 2025, he also served on the joint health and safety committee. Municipal officials say he showed a steadfast commitment to serving the community and improving the lives of residents who relied on transit each day.
Siebarth’s contributions extended far beyond transit. He built strong connections across Port Hope, working with long-term care homes to help enhance the quality of life for seniors and volunteering his support for the annual Tammies Jammies pajama drive during the holiday season.
Mayor Olena Hankivsky, on behalf of council and staff, has extended her condolences to Siebarth’s family, friends, and colleagues.
“Jerry’s dedication, compassion, and service will be remembered with gratitude,” the Mayor said.
As a tribute, flags at Port Hope Town Hall have been lowered to half-mast.
