The Town of Cobourg is reminding residents that winter parking regulations come into effect November 1 to help keep streets clear and safe during snow removal operations.
Under Parking Bylaw 048-2023, vehicles cannot be parked on designated collector and arterial roads between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. from November 1 through March 31. The bylaw also prohibits parking that interferes with snowplow operations, including vehicles left on cul-de-sacs and wide corners.
Town officials say keeping major routes open is essential for public safety and effective snow clearing, particularly on high-traffic roads. Residents are encouraged to use off-street parking whenever possible and to review the list of restricted streets on the town’s Winter Parking Map, available at cobourg.ca/snow.
Some of the streets where parking is restricted during the winter months include Havelock Lane, Balls Lane, Park Lane, Jex Lane, Caddy Drive, John Fairhurst, and the New Amherst lay-bys.
The town says it appreciates residents’ cooperation in following the rules, which help ensure roads remain passable for snowplows, emergency vehicles, and morning commuters. For more information and to view the complete bylaw, visit cobourg.ca/snow.
