Port Hope Police say a woman has been arrested in connection with the theft of a poppy donation box from a local restaurant.
The incident happened on the evening of November 5, 2025, at a Peter Street establishment. Police say a woman entered the restaurant, approached the front counter, and concealed the donation box inside her jacket before leaving.
Staff quickly reported the theft, and security footage confirmed the incident. The suspect was recognized by both staff and police from previous interactions.
On the morning of November 6, officers located the woman near Peter Street and Neilson Drive and arrested her without incident.
The accused faces multiple charges, including two counts of theft under $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. She was taken to the Port Hope Police Service headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
