Port Hope Council has officially adopted its 2025-2028 Strategic Plan, establishing a clear framework to guide municipal decision-making, projects, and service delivery over the next several years.
The plan serves as a long-term roadmap, promoting responsible growth and ensuring the community continues to thrive.
The Strategic Plan is built on four key pillars: inclusive, prosperous, sustainable, and innovative. Inclusivity focuses on strengthening community wellbeing and access to services so all residents can fully participate in civic life. Prosperity emphasizes a resilient local economy, a vibrant downtown, and opportunities for businesses and talent to grow. Sustainability highlights stewardship of natural assets and infrastructure, climate resilience, and long-term fiscal responsibility. Innovation focuses on modernizing services, embracing continuous improvement, and fostering data-informed decision-making and collaboration.
“By focusing on inclusivity, prosperity, sustainability, and innovation, we will align our resources and efforts to deliver responsible growth, enhance quality of life, and provide modern, effective municipal services,” said Mayor Olena Hankivsky. “The Strategic Plan reflects the values and aspirations of our community while setting a practical course for the years ahead.”
The plan’s priorities will guide departmental work plans, budgets, and performance measures through 2028, with public reporting to ensure accountability and transparency. Embedded throughout the plan are the guiding principles that define Port Hope: Heritage, Innovation, and Prosperity.
