The Town of Cobourg is advising residents of a planned power outage and temporary road closure scheduled for Tuesday, November 25, to allow for the safe removal of a tree on College Street.
The outage will affect customers within the designated service area from approximately 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., while crews work in the area with electrical infrastructure temporarily offline for safety.
In addition to the outage, College Street will be closed between Chapel Street and James Street East from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Local traffic access will be limited during this period, and affected households have been provided with further information regarding vehicle access and temporary parking adjustments.
The Town notes that traffic lights are not expected to be affected by this scheduled outage. However, officials are reminding drivers that during any unplanned power interruption where stoplights may be non-functional, intersections must be treated as four-way stops.
Residents and businesses in the affected zone are encouraged to prepare for the outage by planning for possible disruptions to morning routines and electrical use.
The Town thanks the public for its cooperation during this necessary safety operation.
