Cobourg police say they have charged a 34-year-old man from Markham after concluding an investigation into two theft incidents from a business on Elgin Street West.
The first occurred in July 2025, with a second reported in early November. Police reviewed evidence from both cases and determined the same individual was responsible.
On November 25, police arrested the accused and charged him with two counts of Theft Under $5,000, along with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. Following the arrest, the man was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Investigators say the identification of a common suspect across two incidents months apart was key to moving the case forward.
