Cobourg’s annual Santa Claus Parade returns on Saturday, November 29, at 6 p.m., welcoming residents, families, and visitors to an evening of festive celebration.
This year’s theme, Once Upon a Christmas: A Storybook Christmas Parade, invites participants and spectators to experience a magical lineup of floats, performances, and creative displays from community groups, local businesses, schools, and service organizations.
The parade begins at the Cobourg Public Library and moves east along King Street, ending at D’Arcy Street. Attendees are urged to dress warmly and wear reflective clothing to ensure safety and visibility along the nighttime route.
The event is made possible through strong support from community sponsors. LIUNA Local 183 serves as the Rudolph Sponsor, while Canadian Tire Cobourg, K9ine Security, and the Cobourg Lions Club support as Holly Jolly Sponsors. Additional Community Sponsors include Allen Insurance Group, Hear Right Canada, William Academy, Domino’s Pizza Cobourg, 2nd Chance Equipment Inc., Jack’s Barrel House, and Downtown Cobourg. Community Partners such as Henderson Construction, Baxter’s Bakery, the Art Gallery of Northumberland, and the Cobourg Police Service also contribute to the parade’s success.
Families can enjoy pre-parade activities at Victoria Hall including Christmas crafts with the Art Gallery of Northumberland and a puppy meet-and-greet with K9ine Security. The Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank will collect donations along the parade route, and Canada Post elves will gather children’s letters to Santa.
Several road closures will take effect in the downtown area beginning at 3:30 p.m., and vehicles left on King Street will be towed after that time.
