The Municipality of Port Hope is reminding residents that winter parking restrictions will be in effect starting December 1 and continuing through March 15.
On designated snow routes, on-street parking is prohibited from 2:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. to allow municipal snowplows to clear streets safely and efficiently. Residents are also encouraged to avoid parking on streets during snowfalls whenever possible, which helps crews manage the town’s 680 lane kilometers of roads more effectively.
Officials say winter driving can be hazardous, with icy and slippery road conditions creating safety risks for drivers, pedestrians, and municipal staff. Residents are urged to exercise caution while traveling, give themselves extra time, and adjust their speed to match road conditions. Local Ontario Provincial Police officers provide tips for navigating winter roads safely, emphasizing awareness, patience, and preparation during snow events.
For more information on snow removal procedures, designated snow routes, and updates during winter storms, residents can visit the Municipality’s Snow Removal webpage.
By following parking restrictions and exercising care on winter roads, the municipality says the community can help ensure safer streets for everyone this season.
