Cobourg Police Service is thanking the community for a strong show of generosity following this year’s holiday Cram a Cruiser campaign.
On Sunday, November 23, officers joined volunteers from the Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank and the Giving Tree collecting donations outside Walmart, Metro, and No Frills in Cobourg.
Police report that the community contributed four 4033 pounds of food, $2,670 in monetary donations, and 389 toys. All items gathered during the drive are being allocated to Fare Share and the Giving Tree, who will distribute them throughout Northumberland County to support individuals and families facing financial challenges during the holiday season.
Cobourg Police expressed deep appreciation to participating store partners for providing space and staff assistance. The service also issued thanks to the volunteers who helped manage collection efforts and to residents who responded generously.
Organizers say the annual Cram a Cruiser drive continues to play a vital role in local food and gift support during a time of year when community need is often at its highest. Police note that ongoing contributions to Fare Share and the Giving Tree remain welcome as both organizations continue preparing for holiday distribution.
Community members who wish to learn more about donation opportunities or volunteer with local holiday support programs are encouraged to contact the organizations directly.
