The Cobourg Public Library is rolling out a month of festive programming aimed at bringing families, readers, and community supporters into its branches throughout December.
Running now through December 14, the Teen Cozy Winter Reads program invites young readers to explore curated titles in the teen section.
Rachel Spence, Community Engagement Coordinator, says it’s something special just for teens.
Select young adult books will come with a complimentary candy cane and hot chocolate, while supplies last.
Families can also take part in the library’s Storybook Snowman Scavenger Hunt, happening from December 22 to January 4 during open hours.
Spence shares some of the details.
Participants search for snowman characters hidden throughout the youth section, with a chance to win a small prize, an activity the library says encourages both literacy and exploration.
A hands-on holiday experience is coming to the Cold Springs branch, where children aged 6 to 12 can participate in Junior Bakers Make Holiday Cookies on December 17 at 4 p.m. The workshop takes advantage of the full kitchen at the branch, allowing participants to learn baking skills and bring home fresh cookies to share.
For those looking to shop local, two partnership events will take place inside the Cobourg Library’s Rotary Room.
Spence says the first happens this Saturday.
On Saturday, December 6, the library and the Spirit of the Hills Writers Guild will host Books Make the Best Gifts, giving residents the opportunity to meet and support local authors. The following Saturday, December 13, a holiday market hosted in collaboration with Lake House Candles will offer handmade gift items from regional makers.
