Cowboy boots, rhinestones, and community spirit filled the room at the LiUNA Local 183 Training Centre in Cobourg on Friday as the Rotary Club of Cobourg hosted a successful Diamonds and Denim fundraiser in support of the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.
The popular gala night, introduced as a fun way to mix western flair with a formal touch, is a key part of Rotary’s efforts to meet its commitment toward a new MRI machine for the hospital. The club has pledged $75,000, and events like this help close the gap.
Cobourg Rotary’s Brad West says the cause is always front and centre.
Beyond the fundraising goal, the evening is also about creating an experience people want to be part of.
“It was all my wife’s idea,” West said of the theme.
Early projections suggest the event could raise a substantial amount in a single evening.
Rotarians credit strong community backing, generous sponsors, and a large volunteer effort for the night’s success. And while nothing is confirmed yet, there is already talk that the denim and diamonds combination could return in the future.
