Cobourg Police are investigating after a report of a person with a firearm at a downtown licensed establishment early Saturday morning.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the area of Third Street and King Street at approximately 12:30 a.m. on February 21, 2026. Police say they received information that an individual allegedly told several people they had a firearm and threatened to use it.
Officers immediately attended the area and obtained a description of a vehicle the person had reportedly left in. Police say the vehicle was located in the north end of Cobourg.
Investigators allege the occupants were seen exiting that vehicle and entering another vehicle that attempted to leave the area. Due to concerns for public safety and information that one of the individuals may have been armed, officers conducted what police describe as a high risk vehicle stop.
All occupants were detained and searched. Police report that no firearm was located.
