The Township of Alnwick/Haldimand has approved its 2026 budget, including a 5.09 per cent levy increase.
After factoring in assessment growth of 1.01 per cent from MPAC, the net levy increase is 4.08 per cent. The approved levy includes a dedicated two per cent infrastructure levy aimed at addressing the Township’s aging roads, facilities and long term asset needs.
Mayor John Logel says for the average homeowner, the 5.09 per cent levy increase translates to roughly 10 to 11 dollars more per month on a median priced home, though actual impacts will vary depending on property assessment.
The consolidated 2026 budget totals approximately $17.96 million, including about $11.67 million for operations and $6.29 million for capital projects. The budget represents an increase of just over $557,000 compared to 2025.
Infrastructure remains a central focus of the spending plan, with investments in road improvements, arena upgrades and continued implementation of the Township’s Fire Master Plan, alongside long term planning initiatives.
Mayor Logel says the Township is taking a proactive approach to meet current infrastructure needs while protecting long term financial sustainability.
