Cobourg Transit is expanding weekday service hours for its Limited Fixed Route beginning Monday, March 9, improving access for riders across the community.
The Limited Fixed Route includes 35 stops and operates on a convenient hourly schedule with no booking required. Bus signage indicates how many minutes past the hour the bus is scheduled to arrive.
Launched as a pilot project in September 2024, the service has grown steadily. In 2025, the fixed route recorded 10,289 passenger trips, with November marking the highest monthly ridership at 1,147 rides.
Beginning March 9, weekday hours will expand from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., providing more flexibility for residents travelling to work, school, appointments, and other daily activities.
Cobourg Transit’s On Demand service will also see changes. During the final two hours of weekday operation, two buses will operate instead of one.
On Demand transit runs Monday to Friday from 6:15 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 8:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., and Sunday from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., with last bookings 15 minutes before service ends.
In 2025, the On Demand system achieved an 89 percent vehicle utilization rate, with 84 percent of trips booked through the app or website.
Cobourg Transit also offers WHEELS, an origin to destination service for eligible riders who are unable to use conventional stop to stop transit.
