Young performers will be taking the stage in Port Hope this April as part of a comedy fundraiser tied to Float Your Fanny Down the Ganny weekend.
Stand Up For Kids will take place April 12 at 12:30 p.m. at the Ganaraska Hotel, giving children the chance to step into the spotlight and deliver their best jokes for a live audience.
The event invites kids to perform short comedy routines while raising money for SONG, the Sounds of the Next Generation youth music program.
Organizers say the show is meant to celebrate the humour and creativity of young performers while helping support music opportunities for other youth in the community.
All proceeds from the event will go directly to SONG, which provides programs and opportunities for young people interested in music and performance.
Stand Up For Kids first debuted last year and quickly filled the venue, with families turning out to support the performers and the cause. Organizers are encouraging people to reserve seats early again this year as attendance is expected to be strong.
The fundraiser is scheduled during Float Your Fanny Down the Ganny weekend, one of Port Hope’s best known spring traditions that draws visitors and participants from across the region.
Several other community events are also planned leading up to the river race, including game show themed competitions and a Floaty Fest Foam Party on April 10.
More information about Stand Up For Kids and reservations is available through Ontario Street Theatre.
