Cobourg’s iconic waterfront skating spot has officially closed for the season.
The Town of Cobourg says the Rotary Harbourfront Park outdoor rink shut down Wednesday, citing fluctuating temperatures that have led to poor and unsafe ice conditions.
With warmer weather settling in, staff are now beginning the process of closing the rink for the year. Residents and visitors are being asked to stay off the ice surface to allow crews to safely complete the shutdown.
The outdoor rink has been a popular winter destination, offering scenic skating along Cobourg’s waterfront throughout the colder months.
While the outdoor season has wrapped up, skating opportunities are still available indoors. The town is reminding residents that public skating continues at the Cobourg Community Centre.
Schedules and ice times can be found on the town’s website or by contacting the CCC directly.
As winter gives way to spring, the closure marks a seasonal shift for local recreation, with residents now looking ahead to warmer weather activities along the waterfront.
