A Port Hope event is turning the idea of “community connection” into something you can see, hear and take part in.
Connect returns April 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Port Hope High School, inviting residents from across Northumberland County, young and old, to come out for an evening of creativity, discovery and community building.
From a drop-in choir led by SONG to Port Hope’s first art battle and hands-on activities like seed starting, yoga and a drop-in cooking class, organizers say there will be something for everyone.
Parent volunteer Alex Kirkham says the goal is simple: bring people together.
Throughout the evening, nonprofit organizations from Port Hope and beyond will host booths, giving attendees a chance to learn what services exist locally and how they can get involved.
Kirkham says the event grew from a need to close the gap between residents and the many supports already available.
Free pizza, school tours, door prizes, a silent auction and a pay-what-you-can book and media sale are also planned.
More information, including a full schedule of activities, can be found on the Connect Port Hope Facebook page.
