It’s kind of a ‘big dill’ for Northumberland, and it’s serving up support for local healthcare.
Registration is now open for the very first Northumberland Pickleball Classic, set for May 2 at the Dink Den in Cobourg. The new fundraiser from the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation will bring together players of all skill levels for a day of competition, community and impact.
Courtney Ker, NHH Foundation Manager, Community Giving says early interest has been strong.
Teams will be grouped by experience level to keep play fun and competitive, with divisions for beginners through to more advanced players.
Beyond the friendly matches and raffles, the event has a clear goal, supporting new technology for NHH’s breast program.
The technology, already introduced on a trial basis, helps improve patient comfort while allowing for more precise procedures and greater efficiency in care.
Organizers are aiming for a strong turnout in the first year.
Ker says events like this also play an important role in raising awareness.
Community support, she says, is what allows the hospital to continue investing in advanced equipment and maintaining a high standard of care for patients across Northumberland.
Teams of two can register for $200, with limited spots still available.
