With just weeks to go, organizers are reminding residents there is still time to take part in this year’s Float Your Fanny Down the Ganny.
The annual Port Hope tradition returns Saturday, April 11, bringing paddlers and spectators together along the Ganaraska River for a day of racing and community celebration.
Participants will once again take on a roughly 10 kilometre course using canoes, kayaks and creative “crazy crafts,” continuing a long standing event that reflects the community’s resilience following the 1980 flood.
Registration continues online for both individual and team entries, with organizers encouraging participants to sign up in advance. On site registration will also be available the morning of the race at a higher cost.
This year, organizers note a few updates, including the removal of Friday evening registration and a continued emphasis on safety and pre event preparation.
At the finish line, the popular Fannyville event village will return, featuring food vendors, live entertainment, children’s activities and race day commentary.
Safety planning remains a key focus, with emergency services and partners supporting the event.
If river conditions are not suitable, a backup date of April 18 has been identified.
More information, including registration details and race categories, is available through the official Float Your Fanny Down the Ganny website.
