Cobourg police say a 33 year old Cobourg man is facing charges following an intimate partner violence investigation.
Police say officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in Cobourg.
Investigators say the incident involved a verbal dispute between partners that escalated, resulting in an alleged assault.
As a result of the investigation, police say the accused was arrested and charged with assault – spousal and assault with a weapon – spousal.
Police say the accused has been released on an undertaking with conditions and will appear in court at a future date.
Police continue to encourage anyone experiencing intimate partner violence to seek help and report incidents.
