Northumberland OPP say a serious collision investigation is underway following an all terrain vehicle crash in the Township of Cramahe.
Police say emergency crews were called to Huycke Road at about 3:15 a.m. on April 4 after receiving a report of an individual located in a ditch.
When officers arrived, they found a heavily damaged all terrain vehicle nearby.
The individual was transported to a local hospital and later airlifted to another medical centre with life threatening injuries.
Huycke Road was closed for several hours while police conducted the initial investigation at the scene. The road reopened at approximately 5 p.m. later that day.
Investigators say a second vehicle believed to be involved in the incident has also been seized.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
The Northumberland OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from OPP Forensic Identification Services and the Central Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team.
Police are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact Northumberland OPP or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
