Community members, service providers, and leaders across Northumberland County are being invited to take part in a regional symposium focused on substance use and coordinated response efforts.
The Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland (HKLN) Drug Strategy is hosting the event on June 17 in Cobourg at the Best Western, as part of its Connected Communities conversation series.
The symposium will bring together participants from across the county to share knowledge, discuss local challenges, and explore opportunities for collaboration. The event will focus on the Four Pillars approach to substance use: prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and community safety.
Organizers say the goal is to create space for meaningful dialogue and identify ways to strengthen coordinated responses across Northumberland County and the broader region.
The Cobourg session follows an earlier event scheduled for May 28 in Lindsay, which will serve participants from the City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County.
Each symposium will include opening remarks, expert presentations, panel discussions, and facilitated breakout sessions. Attendees will also have opportunities to network and connect with others working in the field, with lunch provided as part of the event.
Organizers say input gathered during the sessions will help identify local priorities and highlight promising practices to better support individuals and communities affected by substance use.
Registration is required for both sessions, and participants are asked to select the event that best aligns with their region.
More information, including registration details and additional resources on harm reduction and substance use, is available through the HKLN Drug Strategy website.
