Families are invited to spend a day exploring local history, nature, and community vendors as the annual Country Market and Nature Fest returns to historic Wesleyville Village near Port Hope this weekend.
Hosted by the Friends of Wesleyville Village, the event takes place Sunday, May 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. along scenic Lakeshore Road.
Organizers say the long running spring tradition transforms the heritage village into a lively community gathering place featuring local vendors, handcrafted products, plants, food, and family friendly activities.
Visitors will also have an opportunity to tour the historic village and learn more about ongoing conservation efforts and future plans for the site, including information connected to Ontario Power Generation’s proposed New Nuclear project at Wesleyville.
A restored reception area located in the centre of the village will be open to the public throughout the event.
Guests can also step inside the community’s 125 year old one room schoolhouse where displays help recreate what rural life in the area looked like more than a century ago.
In addition to the heritage features, organizers say visitors can enjoy peaceful walks through the nearby nature trail while taking in the spring scenery along the Lake Ontario shoreline.
The event is free to attend and open to visitors of all ages.
Parking for the Country Market and Nature Fest will be available at 2082 Lakeshore Road in Port Hope.
