Port Hope council will hold a special meeting next week to review the final consultant report and recommendations from the Municipality’s ongoing Ward Boundary and Council Composition Review.
The special council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2 at 4 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall on Queen Street.
During the meeting, council will receive a presentation from Watson & Associates Economists Ltd., the consulting firm leading the review process.
The report outlines options and recommendations related to potential ward boundary adjustments and possible changes to council composition aimed at addressing representation and future growth considerations within the municipality.
Following the presentation, council is expected to further discuss the matter and could select a preferred option to guide the Municipality’s next steps.
Municipal officials note that if council chooses to proceed with a preferred option, a confirming bylaw would be presented at a future council meeting for formal approval.
Ward boundary and council composition reviews are periodically conducted by municipalities to help ensure effective and equitable representation as communities grow and demographics change.
The upcoming meeting will be open to the public and livestreamed through the Municipality of Port Hope’s YouTube channel for residents unable to attend in person.
Additional information related to the review process and meeting materials is expected to be available through the Municipality’s website.
