The Northumberland Humane Society is inviting residents to gather for an evening of remembrance, reflection and community at the Rainbow Bridge Walk 4 Paws.
The event takes place Sunday, June 14 at Victoria Park in Cobourg and will bring together animal lovers from across Northumberland to honour pets that have passed away while supporting animals still searching for loving homes.
Registration opens at 5 p.m., with the 4.5-kilometre walk beginning at 6:30 p.m. along Cobourg’s waterfront trail.
Organizers say the event is designed to celebrate the special bond between people and their pets while raising funds to support the Humane Society’s ongoing work.
The evening will feature a pet memorial area where participants can remember beloved companions, as well as glow necklaces, a barbecue and opportunities to connect with fellow animal lovers.
The Northumberland Humane Society says proceeds from the walk will help provide shelter, veterinary care, food and other support for animals currently in its care.
Participants are encouraged to walk in memory of a pet, in support of a friend, or simply because they care about animal welfare. Well-behaved dogs on leash are welcome to join the walk.
Registration is $10 per participant, while children under 10 can take part free when accompanied by a registered adult.
The Humane Society says the event is intended to be both a celebration of the joy pets bring to people’s lives and a reminder of the many animals still waiting for their forever families.
Organizers hope the evening will provide comfort, connection and support while helping create brighter futures for animals in need throughout Northumberland County.
Registration details are available through the Northumberland Humane Society.
