According to Cobourg Police, a drug trafficking investigation has resulted in the seizure of approximately $40,000 worth of suspected drugs and the arrest of a Brampton resident.
Police say the investigation focused on alleged drug trafficking activity occurring in Cobourg and surrounding areas.
On June 10, members of the Cobourg Police Service Street Crime Enforcement Unit and Criminal Investigation Bureau, assisted by Uniform Patrol officers, the Ontario Provincial Police Emergency Response Team and the Belleville Police Service Canine Unit, conducted a traffic stop in the Town of Cobourg.
As a result of the investigation, police say they seized approximately 68 grams of suspected fentanyl, 135 grams of suspected cocaine, oxycodone pills and multiple cellphones.
The estimated street value of the drugs is approximately $40,000.
Police have charged a 27-year-old Brampton resident with multiple counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule I substance, including fentanyl and cocaine.
Cobourg Police say the charges stem from an ongoing investigation into alleged drug trafficking activity within the community and surrounding region.
The charges have not been tested in court.
Police continue to encourage anyone with information regarding suspected drug trafficking or other criminal activity to contact the Cobourg Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
