Emergency crews responded to a three-vehicle collision Monday afternoon at the intersection of County Roads 22 and 23 in Alnwick/Haldimand Township.
Initial reports from the scene indicated the collision involved three vehicles, with one vehicle striking a hydro pole and another reportedly leaving the area. There were also early reports suggesting multiple people may have been injured.
However, Northumberland OPP say those initial reports were not accurate.
Police say officers were called to the intersection at approximately 1:40 p.m. Sunday.
Following their investigation, OPP confirmed the collision involved three vehicles. Officers interviewed all motorists involved and determined there were no injuries.
An 84-year-old man from Grafton has been charged with careless driving in connection with the collision.
The investigation has concluded, and no additional information has been released.
The collision serves as another reminder for motorists to slow down, remain alert at rural intersections and use extra caution when approaching emergency scenes. Drivers are also reminded that Ontario’s Move Over law requires motorists to slow down and move over whenever it is safe to do so when approaching police, fire, ambulance or tow vehicles stopped with emergency lights activated.
