Summer may be a time for vacations, but the Cobourg Public Library is encouraging residents of all ages to keep learning, reading and connecting with their community.
From reading challenges and family activities to fundraising events and discussions about artificial intelligence, July is packed with opportunities to stay engaged.
Community Engagement Coordinator Rachel Spence says the library’s annual summer reading programs are already underway for children, teens and adults.
The library is also hosting its annual Book and Bake Sale on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Rotary Room. Books will be available by donation, while homemade baked goods from community volunteers and Baxter’s Bakery will also be available.
Later in the month, the library is venturing into one of today’s fastest-growing topics.
On July 22, Dr. Richard Kahn will lead a free AI Basics presentation for teens and adults, exploring what artificial intelligence is, how to use it safely and how to better understand the technology.
The busy July calendar also includes family movie afternoons, an Under the Sea Party, a StoryWalk, Saturday Gaming Afternoons at the Gores Landing branch, a pollinator program at the Cold Springs branch, pirate-themed activities connected to the TD Summer Reading Club and appearances at community events throughout the month.
Spence says the library continues to offer a welcoming, air-conditioned space for anyone looking to read, learn or simply spend time in the community this summer.
