A 39 year old Cobourg woman is facing multiple charges after Cobourg Police Service responded to a reported shoplifting incident at a business in the area of Spring Street and King Street West.
Police say officers were called to the business at about 11 a.m. on July 8 following a report of a theft. Officers located and arrested a woman matching the description provided by witnesses.
During the arrest, police recovered the stolen property and seized a quantity of suspected fentanyl.
The accused has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of a Schedule I substance, fentanyl, and failing to comply with probation.
She was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The charges have not been proven in court.
