Young business owners from across Northumberland will have a chance to showcase their creativity and hard work during the Business and Entrepreneurship Centre Northumberland’s annual Youth Entrepreneurship Showcase.
The free event takes place Wednesday, August 12th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Staples Cobourg on Elgin Street West.
The showcase features participants from two BECN youth programs: My Future My Career, which supports entrepreneurs ages 8 to 14, and the Summer Company Program, designed for youth ages 15 to 29.
More than 20 youth-led businesses will be featured at the event. Products and services include photography, mobile auto detailing, t-shirts and branded apparel, lawn care, horse rodeo rope, asphalt sealing, unique buttons, 3D printed toys, Spanish lessons, and home décor items.
Community members are invited to attend, browse the displays, connect with young entrepreneurs, and support local youth businesses.
For those unable to attend the August 12th showcase, some participants will also be selling their products during Cobourg Farmers’ Market Youth Day on Saturday, August 22nd from 9 a.m. to noon at Rotary Harbourfront Park.
The BECN’s youth entrepreneurship programs provide participants with mentorship, business coaching, and microgrants to help them launch and operate their own businesses.
The Summer Company Program offers eligible applicants up to $3,000 in funding support, while the My Future My Career program provides youth ages 8 to 14 with business guidance and up to $500 in microgrant support.
