Students, families and jobseekers will have a chance to explore careers in the skilled trades when the Level Up! Skilled Trades Career Fair arrives in Cobourg this week.
The event takes place September 23 and 24 at the Cobourg Community Centre, located at 750 D’Arcy Street. It’s the first stop on a 12-city Ontario tour this fall.
A public open house runs Wednesday, September 23, from 3 to 7:30 p.m., giving students, parents, jobseekers and other community members an opportunity to meet exhibitors and try hands-on activities.
Presented by Skilled Trades Ontario, the fair introduces attendees to career possibilities across the province’s more than 140 recognized skilled trades. It also provides opportunities to learn about apprenticeships and connect with people working in the sector.
“Whether you’re a student exploring career possibilities, a parent learning more about apprenticeship, or an adult considering a career change, Level Up! offers an engaging introduction,” said Candice White, CEO of Skilled Trades Ontario.
Now in its fifth year, the Level Up! career fair program has welcomed more than 140,000 attendees at previous events.
Ontario Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development Minister Trevor Jones said the fairs give young people an opportunity to see where a career in the skilled trades could take them.
The Cobourg public open house is scheduled for Wednesday evening. The broader career fair continues Thursday, September 24.
