A 49-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police recovered a stolen bicycle.
Cobourg Police Service officers responded at approximately 2:30 p.m. Monday, September 21, to a report of a bicycle theft in the area of Birchwood Trail and Densmore Road.
As part of the investigation, officers reviewed CCTV footage and later observed the suspect riding the stolen bicycle on Division Street.
A 49-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
Cobourg Police are also reminding residents about the CPS Bicycle Registry.
Residents can register their bicycles and record important information including the bike’s serial number, photographs, receipts and any unique features.
Police say having that information on file can increase the chances of a bicycle being recovered and returned if it is lost or stolen.
More information and bicycle registration are available through the Cobourg Police Service online reporting page.
