Habitat for Humanity Northumberland is inviting the community to watch its annual Great Gingerbread Build-Off, with spectator tickets now available for this year’s competitions.
The Great Gingerbread Build-Off Showdown takes place Nov. 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lions Club of Cobourg. Teams of four will compete to create gingerbread structures while facing unexpected challenges and inspections. Spectators can vote for their favourite entry through donations, while judges select the overall winner. Tickets cost $40 and include food and a non-alcoholic drink.
The new Great Gingerbread Academy follows Nov. 29 at 1 p.m. at Port Hope High School, bringing the competition to middle and high school students across Northumberland County. Admission is $10, and team registration closes Oct. 31.
Free gingerbread workshops for children under 12 are also planned for Nov. 14 in Cobourg and Nov. 22 in Port Hope. Advance registration is required.
Last year’s event raised $25,000 for Habitat Northumberland. Proceeds support housing programs aimed at helping more residents access safe, stable and affordable homes. Tickets and registration details are available at habitatnorthumberland.ca.
