The West Northumberland Wild U15 BB team captured its division championship at the annual Halloween Havoc tournament, hosted by the West Northumberland Girls Hockey Association.
The Wild edged the Ancaster Avalanche 1-0 in the final, with Paige Martin scoring the winning goal and Paisley Dafoe-Shred recording the shutout. West Northumberland reached the championship game with a 3-1 semifinal victory over the Ottawa Ice, led by Zara Caletti’s two goals.
The three-day tournament featured teams competing in Cobourg, Port Hope, Baltimore and Bewdley. The Wild were the only local team to win a division title.
The championship adds to a strong start to the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association season, with the team recording two wins and two ties in its first four league games.
