The fire-damaged Wesleyville Village church has officially reopened following restoration work supported by $176,900 in Ontario Trillium Foundation grants.
MPP David Piccini joined the Friends of Wesleyville Village on Sunday to celebrate the milestone and recognize efforts to preserve the historic Port Hope site.
A $154,400 grant in 2025 funded interior repairs to the church, allowing the organization to regain its occupancy permit. A second grant of $22,500 this summer supported improvements to the village’s 1899 schoolhouse, including stair repairs and new interior heaters.
The celebration also featured the return of the Celebrity Bake Auction, live music and opportunities for visitors to explore the heritage property.
Friends of Wesleyville Village says the improvements will help make the historic site more accessible and available for year-round community use.
