Only those 18 and old can vote in elections, but young artists are doing their part congratulating those who do. The Town of Cobourg held a contest for kids under 18 to design a sticker that said “I Voted” that was handed out to those who cast a ballot on Monday October 26th.
13-year-old Caris and 10-year-old Walter took top honours and had their designs printed to give to voters.
Caris says she found out about the contest while at the art gallery and thought it was a good way to help get people out to vote
Walter found out about the contest when he was out with his school.
Caris says there was one rule about what could be on the sticker.
Walter said he had an original idea, but decided to change it to the final design.
Walter says he didn’t think he would win, but was very happy when he found out he did.
Caris says there were prizes for the winners.
All entries were displayed at the Art Gallery of Northumberland with Caris and Walter’s in prominent view.
