The Cobourg Police Service responded to two break and enters on January 3.
Police say the first came in at noon from a businesses in the downtown core.
Sometime overnight, someone had pried the lock off a rear sliding door and gained access to the building.
Then officers received another call just before 3:30 p.m. about an attempted B & E at another downtown business.
After investigating, they determined that the exterior locks had been tampered with, but no one gained access to the business.
In both cases, there are no suspects or witnesses and police are continuing to investigate.
